La bibliothéque Coloniale en Débat
In 2013, a group of academics and researchers—from Africa, its diaspora, and the rest of the world—met in Dakar to discuss Africa within the scientific field, focusing on the theme of the "Colonial Library." This book retraces and connects a number of reflections that emerged during this meeting, entitled "Afrika N'ko," meaning "Speaking of Africa in the World." These reflections, stemming from diverse approaches, concern the production of knowledge in the "human sciences," the humanities, and research related to African cultural heritage. The main objective is to establish and develop a social science and humanities that account for historical trajectories, social transformations, and the narratives that accompany them. We hope that this new perspective will open new horizons, freed from the constraints of the past, allowing for a better understanding of African social realities, for an African knowledge order free from any tutelary hegemony.
