Autobiographie des Todes
Autobiographie des Todes
Kim Hyesoon's virtuosity lies in her ability to create unique, poetic, surprising, yet accessible images while being deeply rooted in the female experience and narrative tradition.
"Autobiography of Death" consists of forty-nine poems, each representing a single day in which the spirit wanders after death before entering the cycle of reincarnation. The poems not only give voice to those who met an unjust death during Korea's violent history, but also combine to form a mosaic of individual pain and meditation. They become an unheard, strangely captivating echo chamber of unconventional voices that draw near, become laughter, a place of grief, comfort, and life.
