Carnet de Prison

A collection of poems written in literary Chinese by Nguyen Ai Quoc (the future Ho Chi Minh) in 1942-43, when, having crossed the Chinese border to secure external support for the Viet Minh, he was taken prisoner by the Kuomintang and imprisoned for over a year. Written in classical Chinese, these poems were transcribed into Sino-Vietnamese, translated and published for the first time in Vietnamese in 1960.
